Tiered seating and Credenza
The client required the manufacturing of a birch plywood credenza (a wooden desk placed against the wall to act as a secondary work surface) and a two-tiered, U-shaped wooden seating arrangement within the same office meeting room.
The Metropolitan solution
At Metropolitan Services, we pride ourselves on our time management skills company-wide — from logistical and engineering planning to on-the-day works. This particular project needed a very tight turnaround. Indeed, competitor joinery companies quoted between 6-8 weeks for the project works. Metropolitan delivered it in just 2.
Computer-aided designs (CAD drawings) enabled Metropolitan to work on a conceptual level with the client, quickly coming to an agreement on the design of the credenza and the tiered seating plan.
In a quick and pressurised manufacturing period working directly with birch plywood, Metropolitan’s Joinery department completed the works exactly to the client’s requirements. The credenza was finished with a lacquer clear spray for a factory-like gloss and added protection.
The U-shaped seating arrangement required bespoke seating cushions made to the client’s specifications, which our dedicated Fabric team worked to meet. The seating platform itself was also made from birch plywood and also finished with a lacquer clear spray to compliment the design of the credenza.
The seating arrangement, however, had to be installed on-site due to its size. As such, core elements of the platform were assembled in our workshop before delivery in order to save time on-site. This presented a challenge in terms of logistics, however Metropolitan organised a successful delivery, in which the credenza and the seating platform were fully wrapped and protected as standard.
After the successful installation of the two-tiered seating arrangement and credenza pictured above, Metropolitan’s Electrical department completed their necessary installations and decommissioning. What’s more, the Fabric department installed a glazed partitioning for the meeting room as per the client’s recommendations; giving the meeting a room an executive feel.
