Level 28 Refurb

A leading UK Bank required a refurbishment of the 28th floor at their Canary Wharf premises. The banks main facilities management contractor, ISS, called on Metropolitan Services to carry out this six-week project with a value of £850,000.

The Metropolitan solution

Alongside the expertise of our electrical and fabric divisions, we called in a team of trusted sub-contractors including partition, data, sprinkler, mechanical, electrical, flooring and furniture contractors to carry out the complete refurbishment of an entire floor of this iconic commercial premises.

To ensure zero disruption to the client, we carried out the work in two phases, focusing on one half of the floor at a time. The client therefore resumed business as usual in the section of the floor not being worked on.

Our circa 40-strong team completed the full suite of refurbishment works including delivery of the following:

  • Stripping out partitions and carpet
  • Furniture disposal
  • Partitioning modification
  • Supplying and installing new glazed partitions
  • Ceiling alterations
  • Raised floor changes
  • Constructing a new vending area
  • Carpet and timber flooring works
  • Coordinating joinery installation
  • Coordinating new desk and furniture items
  • Decoration works
  • Graphics and signage
  • Underfloor electrical power distribution
  • Installing desk power

Throughout the project we had to deal with the logistical challenge presented by the loading bay, which continued to operate as business as usual during normal working hours. This meant that we needed to carefully schedule deliveries in order to complete works in line with the programme.

Despite the challenges and size and scope of this project, we delivered on time and on budget with no disruption to the client’s business.

As a result of this and other successful projects we continue to be a preferred contractor of ISS and receive consistently positive feedback from their clients.
