Emergency flood response
As the facilities management provider for this multinational finance and insurance corporation, their FM manager called on Metropolitan Services to deal with a critical emergency situation at the client’s premises in London. A burst water pipe on the roof had caused major flood damage across level 8 and down to level 4 in the building, which required immediate action.
The Metropolitan solution
In response to the emergency call out, we quickly gathered and mobilised a team of 16 operatives. Reaching the site on Saturday morning, the team worked intensively to rectify the problem with the aim of having the building fit for purpose by Monday morning.
The work involved replacing approximately 300 metres of water-damaged underfloor Electrak and components, as well as a number of lighting parts. The scale of the required rectifications meant our team worked through the day and night over the weekend – with many volunteering to cancel personal plans and family commitments – to complete the job and meet the requirements of the client.
On completion of the work, our experts fully tested the flood damaged areas on each of the affected floors. The result was exactly what the client had hoped for; the site was back to business as usual condition by the Monday morning, and staff were able to attend work, oblivious that the flooding incident had happened.
The FM company was quick to praise this remarkable effort not only by the Metropolitan on-site team, but also our internal departments who helped get the job across the line:
“MES pulled out every single stop necessary and worked tirelessly around the clock to ensure the remediation plan and associated works would be completed by Sunday, allowing our client to occupy their space for Monday… everyone should be extremely proud of what was achieved over the weekend, which was a true test of the resolve, flexibility, capability of both MES and your supply chain.”
