Brief
One of our large financial clients engaged us following a tenant moving out of one of their premises, leaving three floors vacated. The intention is to fit these floors out at a later stage but because the tenants equipment was largely incompatible with the landlords, they wanted the area cleared in preparation for the fit out design.
Solution
Metropolitan was appointed principal contractors for the works and initially set up site welfare in preparation for the labour, which was due to peak at around 50 operatives at one stage. The welfare area was set up on one of the floors to keep operatives away from live working areas. Our electrical team went through the floors to isolate, create air breaks, mark up and make safe all equipment to be removed, whilst also clearly defining equipment to be retained. A comprehensive temporary power and lighting network was installed throughout the floors to ensure a safe environment. Our fabric team went through the site removing all partitions, joinery, ceilings and high level services, with some works taking place outside of normal working hours to ensure that there was no disruption to the live floors above and below. The site was left safe and clean for the next phase of the project.
