Due to our in depth building knowledge and following a strict tender process we were awarded the contract to replace the existing Denco on-floor CRAC units with a more efficient Uniflair product. Initially the works were going to be split between two contractors but following the issue of our logistics document we were fortunate enough to be awarded the whole project.
In brief the project involved the disconnection of existing CRAC units of varying sizes and replacement with another more efficient version. However the building was to remain occupied at all times, the units were different in physical size and more importantly the valves and associated pipework was not fit for purpose and needed replacing. This was overcome by having all the units delivered off site to our workshops where bespoke mounting frames were manufactured inclusive of new valve sets and pipework connections. We were able to pre-manufacture each assembly, chlorinate and test prior to delivery to site.
During a schedule of planned shutdowns we were then able to isolate individual CRAC units, carefully disconnect and remove from site, place new CRAC units in position then test and commission. The works were carried out generally at night with one unit being replaced inclusive of commissioning. In total 87 units were replaced with floor and ceiling modifications being carried out at the same time. The works were carried out over a 16 week period with no loss of cooling or controls at any time.
